Natalie Tan is a cultural practitioner and writer based in Vancouver, Canada.

Expressed with an unbridled passion influenced by the forever-classic emo tracks of the 2000s, she examines maladaptive wistfulness, traditions formed from migration, and the impact of colonialism on Hong Kong and its diaspora. She is the author of the newsletter Simmer Down, a reflection on food and memory, and was a member of Bush Theatre’s West London Playwrights’ Group in 2021. She is the 9th recipient of The White Pube Writer’s Grant (2021), and her work has been included in DVAN, Radio Slumber, the Breakfast B Reading Series, Chán Magazine, and Short Eats.

Additionally, she is a cultural manager with over 10 years of diverse experience in production and leadership in the arts. From 2021-2024, she was Producer at sunset visitor 斜陽過客, an independent games studio dedicated to telling diverse stories through the lens of speculative fiction. The studio’s first project, 1000xRESIST is a triple Independent Games Fesival nominee, a finalist for the 60th Annual Nebula Awards, and has been covered by Giant Bomb, PC Gamer, IGN, Paste Magazine, and EuroGamer.

Prior to that, Natalie was Deputy Director at Centre A: Vancouver International Centre for Contemporary Asian Art, where she found passion in mentorship and enriching the public’s experience with the arts through facilitating sociopolitically relevant, impactful exhibitions and public programming.

Natalie holds a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Emily Carr University of Art + Design, and an MA in Arts Administration and Cultural Policy from Goldsmiths University of London.
